Week 5- Hospitality Information Systems

In order for my concept, an Information System to operate, elements of data input for various hospitality operations (i.e. the technology behind the concept) and analysis of the output applications (i.e. what the businesses/guests gain from this concept) need to be considered.

For decision making purposes, methods of presenting this information will be shown on a website.

Although it is difficult to comment on this concept before attempting to implement it, the concept appears to focus more on the marketing than on the current use of IT.

An article by Patrick Gorman on Touchscreen Evolution, shows new technologies such as infrared motion-sensing cameras are taking touch technology to places it has never gone before. Further on this article highlights the potential touch screen technology can reach and how all sorts of unthinkable applications can be created. For example, custom interactive walls, windows, tables are currently coming from smaller providers. To conclude this article expresses its thoughts on the future- moving to 3D realm. "You can be two feet away from the source and interacting—you don’t even have to touch anything, it will become gesture-based."

As far as my in room touch concept is developed, this application would be far too enhanced to facilitate and/or research as the technology hasn't been tested and approved.
